For its back-to-school session on 2 September, Club 31 focused on a key file on the European agenda: the Industrial Accelerator Act (IAA). Faced with the risk of industrial decline, this regulation reflects Europe’s determination to turn public procurement and its internal market into levers for its industrial power.
At the heart of the discussion: under what conditions will companies be able to access public contracts and European funding? The exchanges covered the main trade-offs in the text: the form of European preference, priority sectors, the definition of “made in Europe” and the partner countries that may be associated with it.
To shed light on these issues, NSI welcomed Christophe Grudler, Member of the European Parliament (Renew Europe) and lead rapporteur of the Industrial Accelerator Act, who shared with participants his vision of the text and the state of negotiations.
Our view
The rules being set in Brussels today will determine companies’ access to markets and funding tomorrow. Our European affairs teams help organisations follow these files closely, assess their impact and convey their messages to the institutions, at the right time and to the right people.
